Pretty sad day. Seems like a subscription is now required to access the Everyman crossword. Price is a bit steep for accessing one crossword. No other reason to access the site, at least for me. I’ve been a long time subscriber to the Guardian so that’s where I get my news. I can’t justify the cost for the just the Everyman access. I’ve got records of completion going back 15 years and I’ve been doing it longer than that.

Hopefully a false alarm. Tried on a different device and was able to access the puzzle without subscribing.

No need to pay anything. They just want your email address.
However they've done their trick of removing the word counts from the clues again.
Here are the word counts for all clues with more than one word.

Across
9 No longer working in computing in La-La Land (3,2,2)
12 Alarm triggered by poacher? (3,5)
14 Terrific group taught after the register? (5-5)

Down
7 Risky attempt, forced ‘hello’; it wavers (4,2,3,4)
8 Expressed anger after abrupt halt: electric vehicle to freeze; it’s the computer’s memory (7,6)
13 Sullen Everyman’s going to drive across the countryside (3-7)

This is the first time I've had to register (albeit for free) to access the puzzles. I've not done so previously as I never submit entries.
It does look like they are inching towards a paywall.

I had to register but all it asked for was my name and email address, no money... yet!

I found this considerably harder than usual although, to be fair to myself, I wasn't helped by not having the word and letter count.

The same thing happened last week, whereby you could access the puzzle early (just click on last week's and then change the final digit in the URL) but the word and letter count didn't appear until the morning. So, alright for the 'later solvers' - yes. I'm looking at you Jono 🤪

Thanks to Everyman for a challenging but, nonetheless, fun puzzle.

Did you find it as difficult as me or was I just not on Everyman's wavelength?

Stay safe:-)

Isn't it weird Raffles? You don't see the word for years and it appears twice in a few weeks!

I actually found this one a bit easier than the last few. With my mathematical background, COD has to be 21, although every year my students would think they were clever making the same joke.

I can't get at the puzzle despite registering. They definitely seem to want me to subscribe.
