Hi all, I’ve finished it (I think), but I don’t get 10a despite all the comments here. I have an answer for which the first word in the clue is a definition, but what’s all this about Mose Allison and The Who??

Also 7d: where does noisily come into it??

Thanks, Dave

Many thanks Jono. I had the close as denoting last letter of pub. That makes sense now

Hi Dave,

10a - if you read the answer 'back'(wards) you get ..... giving "relaxed"

7d - "noisily" just tells you the first part is a homophone because "having sex" should be 2,2 but in the answer it's 3,2

Finished:
FOI: 20d
LOI: 17a
COI: Another vote for 10a, though I'm always impressed by complex anagrams like 14/19!

Got it done without using the forum, but benefitted from an accidental bonus of hint about "acting" when I loked again at last week's forum!

But didn't find what I was looking for: please can someone parse last week's 13d? "Not sure about one getting time off for lecture". I think "earwigging", defn "lecture", and presumably some word loses a "t", and there's "a", "an" or "i" in it, but beyond that ... ?

And is there anywhere to go for explanations of previous clues, like the "Annotated Solutions" which the Guardian used to provide?

Hi Pam,

Not sure is ER and that goes "about one" ie A then, as you say, "getting" is TWIGGING minus the T for 'time off'.

Fifteensquared.net (aka 225) should have the annotated solutions you're after. You'll have to wait until Saturday early hours. Looks like the solutions are published at midnight, not midday as stated on the Grauniad website.
