brendan@19, jono@11: Re. 10, I've made the same parsing error before. I recognize shared letters and automatically conclude "anagram" rather than noticing (trying to avoid spoilers here) patterns. I made the (wrong) conclusion it was an anagram of the first word of the phrase. The phrase itself didn't occur to me until jono questioned the ghost. 🤣

An easier ride than last week . Found parsing pretty straight forward , even 28 which has caused comments.

Given the thematic solutions, it's a pity Kite couldn't work in a pangram. I looked hard for one but fell a couple of letters short.

HI Everyone

It took me a while to get going. I was in a lot of pain from my hips. I got 10ac first, but took a while to parse. I liked the parsing, v clever. Then I got the long anagram for 14/19 and realised the theme, which I enjoyed. I went to 1ac in my thirties as it was my twin city at the time. Some clues were easy peasy, but I struggled to parse several and still haven't got the Spoonerism at 4d though I have the answer.

I came to the forum with four still to get, but the entries here gave me the answers. I struggled with 17ac, 27ac, 28ac and 29ac.

How can you not love The Who? They are definitely my era. I stopped listening to pop/rock music in 1974.

Hello roof. Sorry to hear about your hip trouble.
Re 4d, you need to double the 2nd s in the solution for the Spoonerism.

Hi, roof. I completely agree - how can you not love The Who? They were not quite my generation 😉 but close enough.

Hope the hip feels better soon.

Thanks jono for the explanation of 27 which was my DNF bugbear. I was totally off track on that one. Needed help spotting the best retired in 13 too. I found the theme a big help in this puzzle (but oddly, did not spot how 28 worked even after I had it!). Like many others, I thought 10 was a great CoD.
