Thanks for that Chris. Interesting so i had a look. Brilliant what you can learn just by doing the crossword.

Morning all. I would never have got 27 and thanks to here I can now explain 3 and 15. But I’m surprised no one has mentioned 4. I can think of only one word that fits (if I have the right crossers) but can’t explain it in any way.

4d is an old word for "has" with another letter inserted

I did the same with 9a. It works nearly as well.

I particularly liked 27a my name gives it away. Saw one in Dorset over 20 years ago. Was both pleased and sad as it was unlikely to survive for very long

Hi everyone. I thought it might be a bit easier today. I too got the wrong ending in 9ac, but it hasn't helped much with the crossers.

To be honest, I'm struggling. I've just taken a break and hope light dawns. I thought there were lots of anagrams, but if there are, they are well hidden because I can't find or solve them. I may need a brain transplant.

I've just spotted where I've gone wrong with 22ac. Back to the coal face.
