Wasn't hopeful at first reading, but my daughter visited and solved a couple of radials, and today it snowballed and I finished it. Like others, not happy with a variant in Wikipedia (plural for singular) which threatened to derail everything, but soon resolved that.

Hi - great puzzle. Took a while to get a 32 phrase for ring 1,: First name, second name, surname "the younger" fitted the bill, However got there in the end.
Now complete but I have a small niggle, the clued rings align with the bars as does rings1 and 8 . But rings 3 and 5 only have a single bar each not aligned with the first word.
Have I made a mistake somewhere ? all the radials align nicely.

Bit confused ... Did you mean rinngs 1 & 7? ... Ring 3 seems fine alighning with first word and ditto ring 5 (which i think could have had 3 options) ...

Thanks crates. I had ring 3 and ring 5 swapped over! the jumbles still worked but now the bars are in the right place. Didn't read the preamble properly did I?
So, onto this week's crossie.
