A tricky one this. You need to know an unusual North American meaning of chum, as the definition. It’s four-letter style of walking, enclosing a five letter word for cycle and a single letter abbreviation for British.

Please help me in parsing / solving this cryptic clue -
" Like a black flower, or white (8)"

The "like a" is in French!

Bharat, the definition is 'white'.
A French term for 'like', or 'in the manner of' often used in cooking (1,2), + an abbreviation for 'black' + a particular type of garden flower.

Comme un is French word. But still I am unable to crack the clue
