23 is similar to 1. Look at "gash".

Thanks chrise. That explains 'gash' for me, but I still don't know what 'speedy festival' is about!

Thank you rafflesthegt. When I guessed the answer from the crossers I assumed it was another 1 or 5. I'd not heard of this 'Festival of Speed'.

This was a steady solve for me thanks to the theme although I should have spotted that more quickly! I can't quite parse 2d, so not convinced I have it right. Would 'worry' be a slightly more apt definition, or have I gone wrong?
