Think I have the winners, but still need 36a, grateful for a steer. I have the words to remove.

Lumen, the 'queen' isn't royal, the 'host' is a common two-letter abbreviation (which goes inside the 'perfectly', a short phrase.)

Regarding last week’s crossword (which I have yet to finish).

Does it not violate the principle that it’s supposed to be a crossword? In that as you solve clues, checked letters give you more information. The spinning and jumping (and approx half of each trapdoor) give almost zero information until you have most clues solved, so the puzzle seems to me to be a jigsaw not a crossword. Of course, I could just be missing something…

From scanning the thread, it sounds like an excellent construction. Just wondered if anyone else had the same thought, or indeed a rebuttal!

Nearly there...a nudge to 1 down and 14 would be appreciated. I can see the extra words in 1 down.
10d I have the entry and can see definition, but cannot see parsing.
Thanks!

10d parses as 2, 6 losing one letter (which is clear from the clue). Then it's a history lesson
