Hi neville
26a was my FOI - it's much easier than you are making it!
22d is clever - it's a double subtraction.

Hi minno
What does " takes off me feat" mean?

There's an older, more generic term that ends with a different letter. You probably haven't heard it as a duck, but you might have in Peter Pan!

Ah, yes. I saw said character. I searched a bit more specifically but the Peter Pan popularity seems to have hogged the Algorithm. I guess the character does resemble a duck but it's not a play or film I have ever sat through with a high degree of concentration. Away with the fairies at that age. Cheers for your help ChrisE

Hi again, minno
If you read the Wiki entry on your first thought, you will see this answer mentioned in the etymology.
