I think this is the first time I've ever completed a Prize crossword without coming here for help.

I have finished this without too much trouble.
But I don't see the definition for 7d.

The answer to 7d wouldn't have much in his personal chronicle!

Yes, I suppose that's a reasonable clue.
At first, I thought the setter had forgotten to include a part of the clue...

Charged through 75% of this while at my son's 8am swimming lesson, thought I'd become a genius...then checked here to see how you'd all found it and brought back down to earth!

Done now after a snooze and some gardening.

Same here tommytt (the genius bit, not the swimming). It's the first prize I've actually managed to finish. 14/19 held me up for a while as I tried to work out how the answers to 1 & 2 could be used. Took me time to twig that 1 didn't say 1a or 1d.

And here tommytt and Smot , had a feeling I would come here and find you had all finished in record time! It was a record time for me but took longer than my coffee break. Gives those of us who are not so clever a bit of a boost , thank you Philistine you always have been one of my favourites.

Back to the cricket although that may be finished quickly too!

Tommytwotone's is my favourite post simply because he got up early on a Saturday to take his young son to a swimming lesson - top man:-)

Mrs G and I also raced through this in personal best time, and were not surprised to see everybody else had too. And we broke for the excellent Lions game in the middle. Too easy. The crossword, not the Wallabies.
