I too would normally write “in-patient” with a hyphen, but a quick Google revealed that it seems common usage to write it as “inpatient” nowadays.

Agreed, Chrise. My Chambers has "in-patient" but as far as I can see it doesn't mention outpatients in any shape or form. Hmmm!

Can anyone help with 22d and 26a? I think 26a (Cry "Get lost!" when bored by economics head) is scream, but I can't fully parse it (bored could be ream). Assuming scream is correct I have ?r?c?e for 22d (Medium round? Clear off!) and I have no idea.

“Outbreak” is an anagram hint. Anagram of “herpes” with a backward abbreviation for Sunday Times. “Hacks” is the definition.

29a Bath then S&M for jerk? (5)

A three letter word for a type of bath, literally followed by S and M!

“Jerk” is the definition.
