Chrise I had to Google the pianist part. Had never heard of it before.

"Pianist" is not the obvious way of referring to him.

I'm just stuck on the parsing of 14d. I've got three letters that must mean "corner" but i'm not really sure that it does?!

Ish, it’s corner as in monopolise or keep something for yourself. This goes inside a runner with cheers at the beginning.

Not the most obvious perhaps but a close second and this is a cryptic crossword!
Meanwhile I’m struggling to parse 22, with two possible solutions that both fit the definition and the crossers but I don’t see the 6d connection with either.
