23D "Herb's about, er, to get elected'". 5 letters. It must be CUMIN and I'm used to Cyclopean grubbiness, but how does one parse the first 3 letters?

I've never seen it used as a herb, though, just as a spice (whole or ground seeds). Has the setter confused it with coriander, which is used as both spice and herb?

Please can you help with these?

3A - OFF COURSE - Naturally = OF COURSE. F(ed) is welcomed in - Trump likes to play golf, so being OFF COURSE is not his preferred situation

27A - RECKONING - Pretty self-explanatory - RECKONING is a synonym of Judgement.

Got off to a good start with this crossword but am getting stuck on the bottom right. 26 across - out nation's anchor - casually dumped in well (8) I have m-n-t---- but can't figure it out Likewise 16 down Yank and the flustered Tory leadership contender (9) I have --g-n---t. I had thought that the answer to15 across was baronet but I have my doubts. Any answers please ?

Alvin, your T in 26a looks wrong. It seems to be an anagram of ‘anchor’ in a two letter word meaning well, gosh. 16d is the name of an MP. Three-letter word for yank (as a verb) followed by an anagram of ‘and the’.

Finished, thanks - having latex rather than lurex for 24D was doing me no favours
