Especially if you read that clue in conjunction with the one above it in the grid.

1d with 16d directly beneath made me a bit emotional.
The end of an era.
Anyone know where we will find Everyman next Sunday?

Hi Katy,
It seems we don’t know at present.

Interestingly we do know that Azed, the other Observer puzzle, will move to the new Observer site, but nothing has been said about Everyman.

1d can mean hello and goodbye, so the “1d 16d” message (assuming it is one) is rather cryptic!

It seemed to me that the key to this one was the three long phrases in 1A, 13A, and 27A, plus the long clue at 13A. If one twigged those early on, and I was fortunate enough to do so, it made the rest a lot easier, as they provided so many crossers. Having said that, I then found this went relatively quickly, and not as tricky as some of us are saying.

Found this online:-

Weekend Change:
The Guardian will transition from publishing both the Prize and Everyman crosswords to publishing the Prize and Quiptic crosswords on weekends.

but....

Despite the transition, the Everyman crossword will still be accessible through the Guardian Live App and the Guardian website

Pah! If you are stuck on 10a, the answer did not have much to do with mould, more with microorganisms in general.

Ah but the mouldy Scotsman’s name is only an anagram of itself Felix.

I must have eaten too many Easter eggs. Despite previous comments, I'm still stuck on11A, 26A, 3D and 22D.

Helen re 3d, look at what is at the end of the clue? 22d is an abbreviation for New England and a three letter word for gentleman (title), all reversed. Meaning is getting out of bed. I hope you enjoyed your Easter eggs.

Hi Helen,

11a - "is the writer" is 2,1 then 2 letter "to be sold" - definition is "friend" (time to play my Black Slate album 😉)

26a - double definition with "acrobat" and also an adjective that might describe someone who frequented Carnaby Street in the sixties
