Brendan's post at 19 helped me a lot. Had not seen that. Clever, my CoD.

But, was pretty stuck in NW corner and still not got 1d.

I have A-A-A which may have incorrect crossers.

Please somebody put me out of my misery!!!

Your middle A is incorrect. What does a cow sound like?
9a is rather obscure, though the wordplay is clear.

If you're unhappy with 2d maybe the penny hasn't dropped yet because, to my mind, it's a superb clue and COD. Of course, it's a bit old school, from before everything involving tapping at screens ...

1d - your middle A is wrong. First letter is from the clue with the final 4 being a homophone/"audible" of the noise a "cow" makes - definition is "goodbye" (but it can also mean 'hello')

9a - first letter is clued by "love", if that helps:-)

Finally finished, but some solutions I felt unsure of.

Again reassuring to see that experts also found it a bit tricky.

Last in were the mutually-crossing block 1d,2d,11a. I didn’t feel 100% happy with parsing of any of them, but I had all crossers, “must be right”.

Also struggled to see 6d, and still not 100% sure I have parsed it correctly. Only one word fits, due to crossers, and fits definition, but feel I must have missed something.

6d - see the last line of my post @3, confirmed by @4 and @5.

I suppose that, as a man gives his intended a ring, it could be "give" not "offer" but I think the clue needs an initial verb and offer more precisely applies to the answer.

Quite challenging. Took me ages to get started but then finished quite quickly.

Like some others, I struggled to parse2d 6d (and also 4d). I still don’t get the latter two, notwithstanding the hints on here in respect of 6d.

Thanks Brendan and jono, got it all now, no idea why I didn't see 9a. As I had worked out the parsing.
