Hi Nelliegee,

A few of us had problems with the placement of that answer. The proble, at least for me, was that the 2nd and 4th letters are the same as the "war zone" answer.

The "small boat" answer gooes in the lower middle and the "war zone" answer goes in the SW, which is where you have your space so check that.

This thread has helped me solve a few I was stuck on, but still getting nowhere (despite several hints here) with:
No cheating... (I have an answer, but 4,4 and can't see what part the "hoop-la" bit plays)
Girl's outside Newgate (the answer I have won't fit anywhere)
Scolding fan or footballer
Female at Nato HQ (even though I think I have 3 of the letters, unless I have them in the wrong place...)

I know I'll kick myself when I get them, as I feel quite proud of getting what I suspect were tougher ones.

... and can I confirm the "Man eater..." is NW (across?), Sci-film NE, and Top of German rankings" SW (across)?

Your locations for the three answers are correct.

Re no cheating, 4,4 is ok.
Re Girl outside, just focus on Newgate. Then you will see it.
Nato - if you have a pairs of letters list that you are working from, that should narrow the selection for the missing two letters.

Finally finished - with a little help from this thread. An amazing puzzle, worthy almost of Araucaria.
But I’m still puzzled about where exactly I got a couple of answers

Finally I’m being a bit dumb about 5 down. I have the answer but don’t understand the Ely say reference.

Thanks - I think I've got it now. It fits NE, right?

As for Nato, I'm still not getting it, but I may be confused with my list of letter pairs. I'll have another look. (The slot I have for it is in the middle at the bottom - is that right?)

The Ely reference is about another name for a diocese.

I just have one left, and would love a hint if possible? I've not seen any other posts about it so maybe I'm missing something obvious!
