That's brilliant, thank you Jono, let's hope Everyman marks the milestone with something special, and thanks for the info on the grid - it struck me as unusual as soon as I saw it.

That's odd, I've searched on here for Everyman 3972 and it appears to missing?

Yes, I did the same thing, how curious…

A pleasant solve with some good clues but some others with very dubious surface sense.

I have not made sense of the first three words "Shaking tail end" of the 7D clue "Shaking tail end, watch a lad fall in Vermont, for example (6)?".
(Despite, I think, solving the clue.)

And I was expecting a homophone indicator in those first three words, but I don't see one.

I also don't get how 19A "Ghastly duck penetrating — we need camouflage " works, although the answer is clear. What are the words after "Ghastly" trying to tell us? (This is a good example of a clue with little or no surface sense. As is 14D "Using reason, conciliate freely? That's not on!")

13A — a very sly use of "buff" here.

Hope these are merely hints and not spoilers.

Shaking tail end: I read this as a tautological instruction to remove the last letter.

19a: Take out the duck and you are left with two words that explain the rest of the clue.

Good day all. I love 10d, made me smile which of course rhymes.

Enjoyed the rest which i found needed lots of crossers.

But, not completed the second of the rhyming pair at 22a - a hint would be welcome as I just cannot see it.

Thanks

Good fun I thought. Top half went in quickly, quicker than the rest. Hoping that 18d applies to the opposition today. COYG.

The anagrind indicator is liberally.
Perhaps what they are doing was trendy in 2023?

Got it.

Might have been the extra hour helping brain cells.

So, a fun puzzle, medium difficulty I think.

16a is I think my CoD.

Best wishes for the rest of your day. I note a few Spurs fans from previous forum exchanges. Would not want football to take over this space but just wanted to say COYS.
