29a) I know the solution (what you get from buffets) and can parse the first 5 letters.
Can't see where the final 4 letters come from.

Picaroon doing double duty this weekend: also (as Buccaneer) in the FT puzzle published Friday night. I think he appears in that FT slot more often than as the Guardian Prize setter.

Quite challenging this week, had to use a missing letters solver for 7D though, which was my LOI.

Just seen the parsing for 29A. I can't parse my answer for 27A but I will read the rest of the thread first.

I don't think 27 has been mentioned yet. It's two synonyms, a forwards one inside a backwards one.

Right I had 27A wrong, I had a key on my keyboard instead of the correct first word. Both are driven though ;)

I'm not a fan of this grid since there is only 1 letter linking each corner to the rest of the grid. It was helped by the 2 clues in the middle providing letters in 2 quadrants though.

I can't parse 21A either (and I had the obvious wrong answer (Pauline) one at first).

if you put an N in 21a you get spots

Ah yeah, those kinds of spots, I see. I removed a K from a word meaning "to have a quick look" at first but that was not the correct tense, would have just been "spot" then.

I wonder if the 13th column might be a dig at someone famous, maybe someone who just bought Twitter ;)
