Thank you The Don, very enjoyable.
Went down a couple of rabbit holes but finally twigged.

I know most of you have finished.
But can someone give me hints on 13a and 7d?

Sunray, I can't help with 13 A, but 7 D is... 'in French' leads to two letters, and 'department', area, leads to the rest. I think my answer fits the first couple of words in the clue.

13ac is a non-clashing clue, if that helps...

If the third letter is A then I think I have 13a.
I was looking for an extra letter and 13a provided it.
Now I cannot parse 3d.

Still 5 to go.

3d is a mystery to me as well (other than the definition)

3d - add two letters in front of your answer and remove them... one from the clue and one as it's a non clashing clue.

Very pleased to have completed this one the day after its release, which I think is a first for me. Really enjoyed it, well done The Don.

There is one clue remaining which I don't understand, 28d:

"My Sean, for one, remains on stage" (5)

I understand the definition and, I think, the "Sean" bit. Thanks for any help!
