Hi, femmenoire
33ac is a punning sort of clue. Definition is 1st 3 words of the clue. The rest of the clue leads to the two component syllables of the solution.
43ac is themed. The definition is last 3 words of the clue.

Sorry, brendan, we crossed with pretty similar hints!
While you’re there: I’ve just remembered that I’m not sure how 17ac works. I suspect that Maskarade has either made what is apparently a common mistake or is expecting us to accept the mistake as being so common as to have become usage, if you see what I mean. If the latter, I’m not convinced!
There I go, grinching again.

No way to submit the completed grid? If I've missed the instructions perhaps someone could oblige ....

Liz, doesn’t look so. Last two weekends the submission instructions were in the pdf, not so this time it seems.

😂This is great Rogissimo, I think you and I have got an * next to exactly the same clues.

17a - I'm not sure exactly what you mean when referring to a common mistake but my query was with the actual use of "raw" rather than a synonym and the seemingly redundant "then".

Rogissimo, I wasn’t sure about 17either. Perhaps it is simply that raw is cut short?

brendan and jono
On 17ac, I agree with jono, but also agree with brendan that ‘then’ seems redundant. But perhaps I’m missing something.
My reference to a mistake relates to the salmon. The solution isn’t a salmon, but it’s Latin name has led to the misconception that it is. I think ‘golden fish’ would have worked better.
