I think 5a is (ROM)ANTICS where ROM is a type of computer key.

*memory (not key).

Has anyone worked out out the parse for 1a, EXTRA JAM?

Old EX, pot JAR, felt MAT.
Does the clue say “is” or “in” felt. In would make more sense.

"in", the error was mine on my predictive texting phone.
