Gitto, 36: How would you express I in Morse, then replace the second D with the abbreviation for what you get after removing a letter from the fourth word.

38: Hidden words in the clue and there's an extra letter in the fourth word.

No wonder I wasn't getting anywhere with the clashes. I couldn't read my own writing for one of the clashing letters. What a waste of a morning.

...the container indicator for 38 is one I haven't come across before (drop an 'r').

I should have looked at the fourth definition of the relevant 3 letter word in the answer.

...although it's not the word you'd expect for the Scottish ref (that's given by the last word - the earlier one is the def).

Is there a clash where 8 across and down intersect please ? If not, could someone parse 8 down for me? I had a "w" there.
