arib I can guess what’s making the the “i” in 21ac. If I’m right you need to pluralise that word, remove the “i” then enter the exact opposite of that word. Hope that makes sense!

Really enjoyed this, although I too got halfway through before spotting the instructions which caused no end of bother!

I think you're right Richard, I'd started to try and explain it but my explanation would have just confused the issue!

Hung up on 2dn and 9ac. No one has mentioned them so I guess I'm missing something obvious. Hint please?

Hi Quocunque,

2d - 2 letter "each" + single letter "year end" + 3 letter "increase" - definition is "obstacle for auditors" (think 'hearing')

9a - Is one of the eight thematic clues - Original answer is hidden/"housing".

Hi Brendan

These are my last two as well. No, I lie. I have to get 27ac as well, which must be a special.

Your hint for 2d is 7 letters long, but the answer is only 6 letters. I've just got it - an unusual word for increase.

I think I have 9ac now, though I can't parse the original answer. (I've just seen it as well).

I think I have 27ac now. I just realised it had to be my last themed one.

So, I've finished. I heven't been able to parse 20d, though my answer fits the definition.

I've really enjoyed this crossword as I actually managed to solve most of it on my own. FOI 11ac, LOI 27ac COI 22ac, 16d and 10ac and a number of others.

Hi Roof,

Glad you got it all finished and, like me, really enjoyed it.

20d - 2 letter "artist" inside anagram/"out" of "pull".
