That reminds me that I think Malone and Grunger are professoresses emeritae.

Orson, Jigjag, what an unsightly, ungainly, inelegant word 'professoress' is - I would never be encumbered with such a title. I will have to leave academe and return to other professions - maybe I'll be a char, a daily, a full-time (salaried?) pedant....

Thanks Chris. And another note (twice the length of that one) would also work!

In that case I have mis-remembered the Latin first declension plural endings...puellae, puellae, puellas, puellarum, puellis, puellis... was drummed into me.

You're right, jigjag. I was thinking of emeritus rather than emerita.

Jigjag, Orson

I was forced to do Latin at Grammar School which probably explains why I took the `maths, physics, chemistry` option for `A` levels! I now appreciate that a knowledge of Latin has its uses.

Hope you`re keeping well Jigjag - I`m looking forward to the end of the football season and the start of County Cricket!

Keeping very well thanks and hope you are too.

I did the same A levels as you, and Latin to O level. Yes, it has its uses, in crosswords mainly.

Not a great football season for us, lets hope we can avoid the drop. Certainly hope to see a lot of County cricket. I might join Lancs, though Worcs is my team. Easy for me to get to Old Trafford.
