This was reasonably challenging, but fun. Only got 8,10 due to the hints on here which led to 6, my LOI. FOI was 19,25. COD 2, just. 25d took longer that it ought to as DLS was from the town where I live

ChrisE and Jono, re your earlier posts about 12, I had the same thought at first too. Was not familiar with the geographic location.

10A as a word for a safe turned up a couple of months ago in a Paul crossword so I remembered it from then.

Hi everyone

Just started after making my Loganberry jam and not doing very well. I was thrown by 8.10 not being "white satin". Thank you Chris for your hint at 7. It led me straight to 12ac, which I think is a clever clue. I haven't managed to solve the anagram for 27,22ac. Is it a person or people?

Is 1,4d a singer? I've been confused by the theme references - are they rocks or singers?

I've joined the forum earlier then usual to avoid having to read through 70 odd threads.

27 22 is a song, a favourite of david lloyd (cricket commentator)
1 4 is a singer, from some time ago

It has only just clicked that 28ac doesn't refer to a novel from 1925, but instead to the clues 19 and 25. Oh dear!!

Presumably 27, 22A is a person but it's a song and it's nearby to the singer of the song.

Most rock references seem to be rocks.

1, 4D is a singer but the rock in that one is a genre.

I'd say there are two themes; thematic answers corresponding to the two-word theme tend to be two words. The intermingling of themes is one of the nice features of the puzzle.

Re 22/27, apparently the singer/ composer had the President’s daughter in mind.

I Took a break and added mor string to my Dahlia frame. My Bishops are coming along nicely now after a slow start.

Came back indoors and I've got 27/22 from the anagram now, but I am stuck on 19,25 and on 13ac among many others. Please can I have some hints for them.

I'm not sure I have the right answer for 4d which is referenced by 29ac. If I'm right 13ac has an unusual letter to start with. Ah I've just got it, but it means my 4 is wrong.

Can I have a hint for 4d then instead.
