Roof, most of the answer to 17a is the name of a well known comic book hero (6 letters) so you should see that fairly easily if you have the right answer.

17d is a musician variety of player. Constructed from a 3 letter word with a 5 letter word after it.

19a is two letters (that I don’t understand!) followed by an anagram of two of the words in the clue. The answer is a weird word that I have never seen before...

Good luck! Come back for more derailed hints if you need to

Hi femmeNoire

I think I had the wrong answer, so back to comic book heros I remember. My mind is blank, so I shall resort to googling. I tried googling, but their idea of comic books isn't the same as mine, I'm thinking beano or the Dandy, not superheroes.

Noeyedeer, 11a is a latin phrase which I guess you have found. It is made up of a three letter anagram plus one letter for “the first” and a four letter golf club that has been “de-tailed” and written backwards (“round”)

Thanks Gweilo. Makes sense now. I was thinking the first two letters were for “Times papers”. Clever mis-direct
