You could argue hosed means utterly defeated tho which was my line of reasoning. I thought it was a weak clue and I'm still having trouble parsing 13D.

I even looked up Gorge on wikipedia looking for things that were not Cheddar and fitted until I got 5D which was facepalm moment. One of my colleagues got 15A I was thinking an Island D--DON

13d - If you look at your answer you'll see it's made up from "in + "in" + "fear" and 2 letters which come from (thin)G and (wil)L "ultimately"

I'll work it out in morning when less drunk I think.
I did like 18D, 20A and 11A (I spelt it wrong too but it's perfectly acceptable, and it's what I first thought of after den). 23A good clue also. Lots of thesaurus usage especially for 25A. 22D quite clever too.

11A across was also FOI for me cos I didn't know more usual spelling. But it's an old joke so was obvs.

So I had to bail out last night as Spiral came on. I've picked up this morning finding the 4 letter clues the last ones in. But still can't get 2d or 10a. They're all I had left. I have answers but both totally unparsable so I think they're wrong if any hints out there.

Difficult to give hints without giving away answers on those two. 10a features a nearby star...
