Of course! I’d miscopied 23d reversing their last two letters, it was late. Many thanks and happier Sunday.

Dear oh dear, yesterday's puzzle must be the first one I've read all through and not had a single answer leap out at me. After a while I got 20 and 22D but that was all. Reading some of the first posts here there is obviously a film theme and so my excuse to myself is that I know very little about films or directors but I fear the honest answer is that the brain is going and I'm getting past it. Perhaps things will look clearer now it's morning. I hope so.

The only one that jumped out at me was 13a and that got me started as there were plenty of crossers. I liked the clue.

Things look a little brighter in the morning light! 13A plus 4 and 7D which I'd thought of yesterday but not seen why (doh!).

Yes much better now. Just finished. I had Hot Tip for 20D which I think fits the clue perfectly but was wrong.

If you look back, you will see that I had HOT TIP first too. It does work, but the correct answer has a further implication of the garden flower.

Ah! I didn’t see that, I’m rubbish at flowers! (not rivers)
