Two letters from 9A, which has no other clashes. Thematic.

I've got a 6 letter word for "nurses" (how they're affectionately known) around U(nionist) - definition is "short exercise" which will give you another 2 letters in square 10d to add to the 4 you already have.

I've got eleven of the thematic words and solved everything bar 34a which is slowly driving me round the bend - I've been staring at it now for the best part of two hours and am starting to see double - help!

Unbelievable - staring at it for hours then get it within a minute of posting!

Can I get a nudge on 10d? An anagram is involved I presume. Is the definition Princes?

No, it's not an anagram. Definition is "European princes" and is 2 letters for "leave" followed by 2 letter abbr. of "special" + 3 letter "harem room" + R(eckles)S

Can you tell me if the cell with 4 in is a clashing cell or not, that would be great for now.

I agree. The fourth cell is thematic and uses one letter from 25d and two from 33a. Now the final (unchecked) letter is R according to the wordplay but L according to the definition. I suppose I would go with the definition, if forced to make a decision, but then I cannot see how LE means 'on'.

A pity, when everything else works so well.

Foinhaven, I think the def. for 33a is a verb meaning to trap.
