Thanks both. Got it now. I completely forgot that spelling of the word.
I don’t have 13a yet, sorry. I guess it has more than 6 letters?
Actually it was 33d I was keen to get the moved letter for, my mistake, I had 32 already.

Lumen, 33d...alerted becomes something a bit more 'crosswordy'.

Thanks grandma. Seems like all the moving letters relate to the wordplay not the definitions. That said, my last five letters (29 to 36) are very odd, don’t see to work to give me a source.

Drxx. I was working on 5 (the intersection with 7d being a 'problem') and I think I have the last 3 letters. I've run that through the Chambers app but drawn a blank.

Lumen, try the last 4 (perhaps in google).

I wasn’t expecting a 5 letter answer for 13a!
I thought row 2 would be the same as row 12, with longer words than space.
Granama , 13 is four alternates from inward jumbled, then T, a common word?

Thanks Lumen, I hadn't heard of such a pin in an engine but Chambers says there is.

I've got the 'safer transition' sorted (haven't heard of the first one but, again, Chambers confirms). That's 25 letters shaded. I'm assuming that's the end.

Puzzled by some parsing eg 14, 40 and 41a but otherwise I think I'll leave this one.

granama1 - for 14a the last 4 letters of the answer = an archaism of 'owner' and def 'drawer' = puller.

The two affected answers in the bottom row (the 2nd+3rd parts that ''lose ***/***/**/**/***'' -
40 'reactionary so' = 'sic' backwards inside a 4 letter word for what a dye that doesn't run is + i
41 the usual 2 initials + 'work' (the last 6 words = the def).
