Hi everyone

I've actually finished today, though I have a number I can't parse like 17,20 ac. I'm happy with my answer. And 24ac.

My first one in was 19ac and then nothing for ages, but after making my raspberry jam this afternoon, they just flowed from there. My last one in was 5d and I can't parse that either. What does COD stand for?

But on the whole I really enjoyed this and finishing before 7.00pm must be a record for me.

Evening all, late to get to this and I can't see 24a at all though I know it must be a good clue from all the refs to it. I know I'll kick myself when I get it but any help very welcome!
Thanks

17, 20a. Remove Yankie and Google what's left as two words.

I haven't solved 24a yet....

Thanks Smot

My husband is a classical music fan and was able to explain what is left after removing Yankee. He doesn't do the crossword, but now cooks dinner on a Saturday so I can get on with the crossword.

24a is themed.
Think of what Le Figaro is (slang) and where it comes from.
