Hi Malone, I got the first unclued entry early on and promptly fixated on Florence Nightingale and the1975 tenner. Once you get an idea in your head it can be hard to shift! Still haven't found the final character to highlight but I'll give the grid a hard stare then on to Azed 2500 tomorrow (:o)

Thanks for that, Quisling. I knew - from the correction letters - that there would be more involved, but I felt I'd done enough by then!

Hi Quisling, yes, got there in the end (apart from the very last step) got sidetracked with the wrong response to the first unclued entry. Some tricky clues in this one and Chambers didn't have the key to some.

Struggling in the lower half! A tip for 35, Colours embodying Zulu features, (6) would be nice.

Hi Lumen,

it's a 5 letter word for "colours" (a general term) around Z(ulu) - definition is "(facial) features" - Chambers gives the answer as hyphenated.

Thanks Brendan, never heard of that, and not on Chambers Word Wizard!

I'd never heard of it either but I got it from the Chambers phone app.

Brendan, Lumen, if you were female, you'd likely have heard of the term in your teenage years - your daily cleansing routine might have involved paying it special attention.

Brendan, I've seen the blog for the 'Jazz' EV. My drawing was correct - as was yours, I expect - and I was still not blown away!

Hi Malone,

I must admit I did take a long time getting ready when I used to go out but that phrase passed me by.

I doubt this link will work but just in case, here was my end product:-
