The 'yng' is not what you probably thought it was...

First time I've done this one, so I'm not sure about the accuracy it demands. Also, there seems to be an issue about giving answers on this thread (I saw a comment on a related thread recently).

Anyway, I am sure of 15 and pretty sure about 24 (less so about 19, so I'll leave that one).

Hope this isn't giving too much away -

15 'sws...' is the anagrind 'RCH...' is the material, minus the R (sounds like 'sht... rr').
24 'strn' is the def - take the top off a synonym for someone who's a (miserable) 'rg'

...sorry, it's 29 not 19 you're unsure of, and I am sure of that one -

Its wordplay is in the form of a cryptic clue for the last word 'nrv', so you can guess what the first 5 letters before the hyphen will be.

thank you, drxx - I was stuck with "said" and "rage" ... and I think sws as anagrind is pretty mean. For 19 the definition is trg. Just 29 to crack now - think it must be yet another gerund.

Thanks for confirming 19, prospero.
Yes, there's quite a bit of cruelty in this puzzle!

got it at last - thanks drxx. I knew it was a clue for nrv but couldn't see the anagram - and spent some hours working on salads ... This is the first of the 197 I haven't managed to finish on the first day - and the setter, who's on this site - is no doubt gloating ...

So far I particularly like 21a and 5d, but I would like a hint for 26a, please.

the definition is "gm" and the first part is support according to the auditor. The rest I haven't figured out but no doubt someone brilliant has ... I was working on the theory that the last word was meant to be epoch but ...

Certainly not brilliant, but my guess is 'pch' = to betray and accounts for the last 3 letters.
