I'm surprised there's so little interest in this as I think it is one of the more difficult puzzles. Perhaps it's just me or maybe others have given up. I've filled about three-quarters of the grid but the southeast corner is looking bare.
I have solved two of the clues without definitions - PRESS and BARLEY - but I cannot think of a shared definition for those words. (I don't think the two-letter word for "at one's home" is necessarily Scottish.)
Are the modifications to three entries made in different ways? I have half missing for one and a jumble for another (I haven't got the third yet).
For 31a I have ??M?? If the boat is a three-letter word what is the definition please?
For 40a I can only think of SNELL for Scots eager but that doesn't satisfy the wordplay at all, does it?
Hints (as blatant as you like, even the answer) for 22d would make a good inroad into the SE corner. "Refuse to attend rave with bores (8)" ?E??R???
That will do for now, thanks!
