Thanks for your election and pie news - debacles all round (including the 'Brocolli'!) Still, it was very kind of you to take on the task of catering.

As the last event wasn't quite the scintillating evening we'd hoped for, I've been looking into staging the event elsewhere. I'm considering various options - London, Edinburgh, the Isle of People (renamed in view of political correctness).

I called upon a young, tech-savvy neighbour as I hoped he'd advise me on the best way to more forward in this age of social media, digital media etc. He gave me lots of information - all about chirps and blogs and vlogs, but I understood very little. He mentioned Twittering and advised me to get a 'hashtag'. I searched through all the ready meals in M and S, but the corned beef meal had various cooking instructions, serving suggestions and so on, but no tags as such. Nil desperandum, as we pedants say....

My sincere apologies for the spelling error. The annoying thing is that I looked up Broccoli to make sure I got it right - then got it wrong! I would love to go to your next event, though I am sure you would prefer alternative catering arrangements. The Kettering catering is excellent if you decide to go there.

I am afraid I don't engage in social media but hope you get your corned beef hashtag. Bully for you!

Grunger, glad you didn't mind that I felt compelled to mention the broccoli! I think we'll avoid pies next time, maybe go for some plant-based products, a dollop of quinoa here and there.

Another neighbour, Iona Pensell-Case, offered to run off some posters for me. She's very artistic, so I had high hopes … which were cruelly dashed. The first poster had some very good artwork on it, but it was spoiled by the huge, bold, multi-coloured headline - PUS 2019. Iona said this was to avoid cramming in the full wording, Pedants United Show, but I fear she may have been out to sabotage the event. Back to the drawing board … again, literally.

I too would love to go to the next event, perhaps the Isle of Black is also a possibility. I will help in any way I can.

I suppose the hashtag is not vegan or you would have found it in the Plant Kitchen at M & S. I don't know where you will get one. By the way, I get my blogs and vlogs from the local sawmill.

Thanks, our last postings crossed. I like Miss Pensell-Case. I agree that perhaps a better poster could be created by a poster on this thread - not me though. I use a drawring-board, I am afraid, and I cannot stop pronouncing the "r"

It is very kind of you to suggest that I could have joined the girls, but for me retirement means retirement as I think Mrs May May have said. The tour has been beset with various problems, all rather foreseeable I'm afraid. I warned them that their singing and dancing was even worse than 20 years ago. Even so, only one fan has walked out, and as he was Welsh, I assume it is you!?

No I am not Welsh, grunger, though I live on the border.

I was thinking you might be feeling undernourished after your quinoa/freekeh eating holiday, together with my pie fiasco. Are you considering a trip to McDonalds to stuff yourself with delicious, wholesome food? More to the point, I would love to hear more from Ivor Berger, please.

Thanks grunger. I was wondering how to celebrate Ascension Day tomorrow, and I might well dine out there, or go for a coffee more likely. But the only ascending that I will do is 2 flights of steep stairs. I hope Ivor is still there. Malone told me about her friend Big Mac (and his children, the small fries) some time ago, and I have been meaning to ask Ivor about them. He does not seem to have a sense of humour, so it might fall flat.

If I go, I will let you know about it on Friday.

Jigjag, I'm glad to hear you'll be celebrating Ascension Day - it's always nice to see our Queen remembered (though I wasn't around when she ascended to the throne. )

I think you deserve more than a burger to mark the occasion - go on, have a triple Mac (is there such a thing? I have little knowledge on the subject).

Research is ongoing for a venue for the next talk.

Grunger, if you're heartily sick of pies, may I please have your pie chart? I'll put it in my Stores cupboard (currently full of unwanted grains, grains with weird names).
