Having finished (I think), one thing puzzles me a little. The correction to 1 across changed the answer to 3d to another real word, but not fitting 3d's clue. None of the others necessitated this - except when inserting the final word to complete the puzzle, of course.

Have I made a mistake, or did you find this too?

I think my 3 D answer works - and 1 A didn't change it.

3 D. Stone bridges are to weaken (5)
The S is superfluous, so Tone....
Tone gives Tint and 'a'/are went inside (bridges), so Taint, weaken.

That fitted in with the T in 1 A.

My parsing isn't always great, but everything fitted in OK!

Thanks so much, Malone. I'd thought FA for the tone and INT for bridges in a very loose sense, so I much prefer yours!

and got 33a now ...posting on here often helps to jog ones mind in a different way... and heigh-ho the answer appears!

(N is extra in the clue)

19a. In(n) n is extra letter

New = n
Affected = hit
def is 'small amount.

3d is covered earlier in this thread.
