Although completed quite speedily on Saturday - Still have a blind spot for the 3rd/4th/5th words of instruction - *AS/*ND/**S - or have I confused my A,B,C and D?

D'oh - Thanks djawhufc - A case of the brain taking over from the eyes - rushing through didn't see the misprint in first word word of 37A so ended up with two group A's in the quartet - All clear now - 'should've gone to Spec.....'

As a new contributor, though regular beneficiary of the wisdom to be found here, I have a couple of queries: if the third letter of 11 dn is 'a', surely this does not refer to the definition given, but to the one for the implement which takes off the top of your head? Also I can find no justification for the spelling of 7dn. Do I simply need to win a more up-to-date Chambers?

Unclued, I read this as GORILLA minus O (of) and R (right, misprinted as sight) leaving GILLA "in mess" or anagrammed to become GLIAL (definition = of brain tissue)
