I have completed the puzzle - but please could someone explain the wordplay for 18A.

Sussex - AP is medical Latin for "before a meal", word change from has to hag and second letters of the words dinner and lacking. Hope this helps!

I thought this a bit of an anticlimax after last weeks excellent challenge. Nice to have a clear unambiguous conclusion though. I have learnt a little Welsh from the cryptic title.

I know what letter I have to change in 15ac but can't see the answer. Also stumped by the 4 letter third work which I can't find in any list.

Also, re message 1, is it really row 3 where 7 letters can be highlighted? I've got letters such as ...TCUUPRA...
