I think this is the first time that we have been told which page inquisitor is on without having to trawl through the paper to find it!! Result!

That's odd, tomsdad, because it's always been mentioned on the front page, often in a large display, except for a couple of times.

I've filled the grid except for 10d:

Ron is able to become a bird with this bit sliced off (6)
RAS?E?

Best wishes,

10 D. I've got Rasher - bit sliced off, but have no idea how it works (if it works!)

I'm stuck on 18 A...

Very dictatorial, wanting help to stop getting wound up (6) ?ol?t?

I assumed it'd begin So, very, but have got nowhere.

I've put VOLUTE for 18a - as in winding.

I'm having trouble with the ADD POST button again after it worked fine for a few weeks. Also, having written this reply earlier, an advert for Ford cars pops up and there is no way out of it, even if you click on the advert. I had to write this message all over again. I will definitely not buy a Ford car.

Whoever designed this website?

Think it's RASHER because it's THRASHER with "bit of (th)is sliced off"....but not sure how that relates to rest of clue...is this one of the five as other solutions seem to bear no relation to wordplay (but could be me of course !)? Am struggling with unclued entries and connection, if any, between them.

Thanks, Muraria.

I have several answers that don't seem to work with the wordplay, so I've decided those are part of the five. 29 A was the easiest unclued, and I got 34 A from the letters I had. I didn't see a link between those two, but I researched them and came up with one - which seems to fit as I now have 8 Down. I'm off to have a think about what to do next.

10d RON with R AS HER = HERON (a bird)

Thanks, jackNatter, that makes sense. I think I can take this clue off the list of five now.

Think French for the unclued words and then you can bet on getting the connection.
