No - the preamble mentions 'two identical' , so those together make one of the mentioned items.

Hope this is reasonably clear, I'm trying not to say too much.

I mean the shading of the 36 cells produces an age which is one more than I think it should be.

The preamble refers to 'the setter... highlight...show his age'. Maybe Little Hare is on the young side, with the 'His' being ambiguous?

Thanks; yes good to see him again. The C gives the only answer I could fit to the definition but I still cannot connect it to the rest of the clue and that is so irritating.
