Help!! Can someone just start me off with 1a? Watch something creating a diversion (7) there will be an extra or missing letter or a single letter misprint somewhere. I have ????H?S

not got that one yet , but 4d is an anagram if that helps ... it's a clue with a missing letter in the wordplay

or 4d could be "extra letter in the wordplay" clue ??

I had unnetted as an idea for 4d. I know it is wrong, but cannot see round this first thought. Push me a bit.....

that's what i've got ... but it makes for some strange words crossing it...
I thought it was anagram of tentuna (minus a - About to escape) + d (die)making E a missing letter
or anagram of tentuna (minus a - About to escape) + die ... then I would be extra ???

17a looks very odd and I cannot find a word at all for 1a - I worked 4d as you have. Have you solved 7d?

I think 7d is ENCHANT - beguile (n changed to l) - anc is dance without the covering "the" and n (new) anagram.

very clever orson... but I have N as the last letter of 7d from the across clue which looks like an anagram..... also a clash where 20a meets 21d ??

There are funny things going on in this crossword. I've got the first two letters of 19a as TN, which cannot be. I must admit I'm getting weary of it, having made slow progress. The main problem is having three different ways of altering the clues. Unless that has some significance for the theme, I think it's lazy cluing.
