It sounds like Barretter and I have shared the same problem. I will try again later.

Hi Reynard, just use the first 38 terms of the sequence and ignore the last 12. If you get the jigsaw right they all fit in. I have double-checked this, as numericals are not my cup of espresso.

Thanks for your several hints, whose combined weight finally caused the penny to drop. Having solved the first grid in a few hours on Saturday, I had got into that mind-set that stops you seeing the fairly obvious. Maybe I got too much help from you to allow sending in this time.

I started yesterday so I'm only just at the final stage. I assumed from the wording of the instruction that the numbers used to fill the new grid would not include the starting number, but now I'm beginning to think it has to be used otherwise the task is impossible. I'm certainly having some problems filling the new grid. Could someone confirm if that starting number is used.

That matches what I have, but I'd decided it cannot be right because it breaches the preamble statement that all grid entries are different in the two grids. Both grids have 11 as an entry. They may be in different places, but they are still entries. If both grids do have 11 as an entry the preamble is misleading.

It doesn't say "both" versions, it says "each" version, which I interpret to mean no repetition of numbers in that particular grid, not in both.
