I am stuck and would appreciate some help on how to figure out the d and D. It feels like they should be the next step after the 2 digits but every option I choose doesn't seem to fit with what I thought I already knew!!

I decoded the message last night and thought it would be an easy matter to finish it off today - but no! Nothing fits - especially if I keep the circled numbers in situ. Yet I can't have made a mistake in the original solution, for if I had, I would not have got the instruction when decoding. Anyone else at this point? Better still, anyone met and overcome it?

I can echo Mandyrob0704. I have all the 2 digit numbers except 7 and 29 dn (which depend on value of U and c) and have both upper and lower case values for A, B, M, N, P, R and T, and u (with two possibilities for U). I also have the 3-digit 2 and 21 ac, and the 4-digit 6 dn. But whither hence? D and d might give me a further boost.

durban,

As the instruction says, you do have to leave the circled numbers in situ. Assuming you have the right numbers, they will slot into the grid.

Hello Escuan,

30ac. You have got the first and last digits so you can work out four possible values for H. The corresponding values generated for h will then prove (by reference to 19ac) which digit starts 19dn.
You should be able to limit g to just two possibilities (ref 5ac) from which you can generate the possibilities for G and then use them in 30ac (a big number)

I have 8 or 9 letter values. However, I am stuck with 6 down. I make the third digit a "3" - which can't be right. The clue to 14 across must surely begin with a "1". Is that right?

In which case I have made an error somewhere. I've repeatedly retraced my steps and am unable to see where I have gone wrong.

If you were able to supply a hint that might get me back on the straight and narrow, I'd appreciate it!
