Only a few words will fit but can't parse any of them ! Any help appreciated please

Thanks Chrisg, had thought of well = my (don't really know why though) but totally confused by one=joke - Ann Bradford's does not give it ?

One is listed as Joke - eg "Have you heard the one about" etc etc

"One" is listed under "joke" in my copy of Bradford's.

Hi Rusty !

I have just checked Bradford's again and the only thing that is close to 'one' is 'one-liner' - no 'one' on its own.

Sunny but rather fresh today - 9 C in sun at present -

Pigale, 'One' is definitely listed, under 'joke' in my copy of Bradford's (9th edition).
