Excellent advice, Malone!

Thank you for your advice Malone - Will go for 12th edition and do my researching on-line until I get a new one.

Glad my little suggestion might be helpful. I always find it very annoying if I think I have a correct answer and can't confirm it.

Yes, , as Rusty says, my 13th edition of Chambers turned out to have 500 words missing!
I have downloaded the (eventually ) provided list of missing words, but several sheets of paper are no substitute for a properly bound fully complete edition!
My correspondence with Chambers about this matter has so far fallen upon completely deaf ears!

Well, my Christmas presents to myself are ordered ;

Most recent Bradsford's and
Chambers 12th edition.

A little more expensive than the archaic edition I had, but still, good to treat oneself every so often !
