Difficult this week, with some I haven't parsed, and a couple of rather unsatisfactory clues (11a and 7d for those with the puzzle), and the slightly ambiguous 6a.

I have 2 crossing clues left - any hints?

1d Alcohol for insects needing drug for energy loss (5)

?E??? (or possibly ?U??? - see comment above!)

10a Therefore plant doesn't need a container (4)

???S

Could a container be "a can"?

My hint was less than subtle, I'm afraid!

...........that gives a plausible answer for the other, but surely the "energy loss" is wrong?

It must be the other way round

Could "o" be energy and "e" be drug?

My thought too, jazzy. Second letter is E (or possibly U) but not O, so MOTHS changes to METHS.

Compiler error?

The two I didn't like were 7d because there is no indication that the answer is exclusively US; and the lack of appropriate capitalisation in the clue for 11a.

I'll wait to see if others ask for parsing of the ones I haven't done.
