But isn't each entry a c******l n****r?

I still don't have a full grid. Can someone please help with 15 across and 38 down? And I am baffled by the wordplay for 25, 26 and 20 across.There seems to be far too much clue for the latter.

Notrab. Yes all the five entries are c******l n****rs, but all other n****r s are also c******l unless they are o*****l, so the five entries don't form a series which could be called c******l series (there is no such series), but they do form a series which can be described as g*******c.

Hi barretter, while, undoubtedly, the series is g.......c in defence of the setter the preamble specifies the five entries form a series but separately the 9 letter word is descriptive of the said 5 entries; not the series.

Escuan, in 15ac the misprint is the 4th letter of "leaner" but I don't understand how the clue works. in 38 dn the answer sounds like ("outspoken") another word for dandy and the misprint is the 3rd letter of "post".
I think that in 25 across the second letter of snubbed is incorrect and this is one of clues that omits a letter of the solution. In 26 across "powerful" gives the 2nd, 3rd and 4th letters of the solution. The other 2 letters are "non-contiguous". In 20 across the 3rd letter of "life" is the misprint, not sure how the rest of the clue works.

Ginge, I see what you mean. I just think the preamble is a bit deceptive. I should expect that after solving a number of "Listeners"!

Hi again barretter, I took it as merely providing additional info regarding the entries particularly 6a & bottom row left which have no connection with the "remaining" 2 entries.

The 5 entries do form a series. Separately, the 9 letter word is a description of the 5 said entries, as stated in the preamble. Nowhere does it say that the 9 letter word describes the series.
