Good morning friends. Was just bemoaning the poor weather when the weatherman put some pics on the TV for June 2nd 1975. Britain was somewhat snow-covered. Funny! I can't remember this. Can you? Happy solving today. J

I set clues just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Fortify any huge structure on the outskirts of Warwickshire (7)

2. Secondary schools without hard nuts (6)

3. Expressing pleasure and sentimentality by note (4-2)

4. Kids! Kids? (3-5)

5. Boy keeps giggling with aunt Eve, then changes for ballet (9,2,5,6)

Good morning jolan, it is cold and very windy in Glasgow but thankfully not snowing (I don't remember that either). Only have #s 3 & 5 on reading but look forward to tussling with the others.

Excuse my intrusion into this delightful thread.
i don't remember the snow in June 1975, however I can recall a very welcome (for me) visit from Santa Claus in June 1964!

In the tone of "A handbag", the snow wasn't in the Home Counties was it, Jolan?
Not got any yet, working on them.

Nice to see Ginge, Rusty (welcome) and Ros. I've just Gooled the weather office and, although Matt the weatherman's pictures gave the impression there was widespread snow, it was just in places.

Keep up the solving. J

Hi jolan
Just in from a fight trying to put the wistaria back on the wall - blown off in last night's storm.

Just see #3 at first read. I've a lot of cooking to do this afternoon, so I might not get a lot of time to look further.

Hi Chris. I've had rhubarb sticks plucked by the wind and deposited at the back-door. A hint? Stewed rhubarb for dessert then.

Only see 3 and 5 right off. Something to think about on the road. Catch you later.

Good afternoon Jolan
I've just returned from the shops and on first reading I see #3 only. I may not be able to post at 5 as I have to take a friend to a hospital appointment.
Looking forward to seeing the solutions.
