Morning Everyone,

Hi Elle, Rusty and Ros,

I read somewhere that Le Louvres is housing nearly 400,000 works of art, which is less than it used to house since the Musee du Quai d'Orsay has taken over the care of most Impressionist paintings -
There are also two or three other Museum for more modern art pieces (Musee des Arts Nouveaux and Musee du Trocadero) - and of course three of these museums are close to the river Seine.

It seems an enormous of number for the British Museum - does it include other things than just Art pieces?

Here this morning : grey sky, temps now around 16C and perhaps a bit of sun (what's that?) this afternoon.
Yet, they have already changed their minds as to the nice weather we were supposed to have next week - More thunder and more rain ! I am going to emigrate to Scotland !

According to Wikipaedia, the British Museum houses nearly EIGHT million objects! I was a teeny bit out in my estimation!
It's a massive building - I've only been to a few individual rooms.... I find it best to visit a room or two at a time per visit, or else it proves overwhelming!
It exhibits cultural art objects and antiquities.

I was quite wrong to mention only these three museums ! I did like you and checked on Wikipedia and Paris has no less than 130 museums; Looking at the link you sent me, I think that some objects similar to those exposed in the British Museum are kept in different museums in Paris.
Whenever I went to the Louvres, I too concentrated to one school of paintings. That's all I was really interested in although I did have a quick look at Sculptures, and Antiquity departments. I must admit that old coins collections leave me absolutely cold ! and Archaeology would interest me a lot more if I was actually taking part in the digging!

I did go to the Tate Gallery once and remember seeing a few Impressionists' paintings but I was only 17, so you can imagine how long ago that was! I read that the Tate has since been divided into several wings.

"Digging" is fun but you do spend a lot of time on your knees, bum in air, getting sunburnt or frozen! I did 2 weeks in front of Exeter Cathedral, where the red earth got everywhere. The public baths lady was not pleased to see me!

Ros, for some reason, I was thinking of a more exotic location..... Having my bum in the air in the middle of a City does not really appeal to me !

Did you unearth anything of interest ?

Not that I remember, in two weeks. I'm not sure, maybe it was thought to be or is a Roman site?

There were plenty of comments from bystanders!

Paris has over 100 museums and galleries!
There is a programme on National Geographic TV on Sunday about building the London Underground system.
Not sure if I have seen this one.
Repeats abound on these channels.
I was visiting my son this morning and then my grandson turned up. So, all very pleasant!

Yes, our weather has much improved, thank you........unfortunately no sun, but much warmer this afternoon.
We have been for a walk in the woods.
I am right now feeling extremely frustrated and put out!!!!!
I got home in time to watch the start of the Men's Doubles Final between the Bryan twins and Mark and Feliciano Lopez ( unrelated).
Then the match - after one set - has just switched from ITV1 to ITV4.....I should have been able to get this on Freeview.......but not today for some reason.......NO SIGNAL!!!!!!!
Grrhhhh!!!!!
How utterly frustrating!!!!!
Anyway, how did your horse racing go? I meant to watch but we weren't home in time.

Did you try switching it off at the wall plug?
Then on again.
I do that when my Skybox plays up, and it always fixes things.

I know that alfalfa is another name for lucerne - once I'd realised it wasn't the place "Lucerne" that was being referred to.
