I think you may have got our rain as well, Ros - it has faded to a light drizzle here........and is supposed to stop this afternoon.
My coat is still soaking wet from earlier!

I may have given you some Ros, but it still is raining here.

In fact, I just had a bit of a shock when I watched the forecast just now - the department where I live is under a RED alert for flooding! Glad I live far up from the village centre - If I were to be flooded one day, then the village would be under a few metres of water !

I think the Loire and other small local rivers are going to be a concern to those living close by.

Today I am remembering a member of my family, John Christal, Stoker 1st Class, who went down on the Black Prince at the Battle Of Jutland, 100 years ago today.
He was 25 years old
Rest in peace, John

That is so sad , Ros, especially to die so young....but lovely that you are able to remember him today.

My thoughts are with you and young John, Ros. A young life taken away by the horrors of war.

Thanks elle. The ship was target practice after her Captain mistook a line of German ships for British ones after dark.

Hi Everyone,

It has finally, but temporarily, stopped raining but the department was the only one in France put under Red Alert; the village has been closed off for over 24 hours because of heavily flooded roads and streets, and people were evacuated; No vehicle could get into the village where we have one main river, a smaller tribute and the Canal. Apparently one of the locks nearly broke under the pressure of the water - I have known this village for over 50 years and I have never seen anything like it.

Some streets and common areas are still under water, it is quite impressive to see, and we still are under a Red alert as another day of heavy rain is due tomorrow.

I am glad to live on the hill !

Wow pigale, that sounds very serious indeed. I'm glad I live on a hill, too. It may get very blowy at times but it's good for starting cars and keeping out of floods.

It is still very cold and damp here, have on winter clothes and central heating!

Hi Ros,

yes, quite serious; luckiiy nobody was hurt as evacuations were done in time - remains damage to floors, furniture et... I am sure those who suffered flooding will have plenty of help from other villagers.

I too had heating on for a couple of hours last night and again one hour first thing this morning - temps have now gone up a bit (up to 16C I believe, which is rubbish for June).

My friends in Cumbria have had beautiful weather recently - well, they had their share of flooding earlier in the year !

Did the rain successfully washed your stones?
